Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra

Reconnect Magazine # 57

This is an article for RECONNECT MAGAZINE in October 2018.

What are Chakras?

THERE are seven primary chakras in the Human Energy Field. Starting with the Root Chakra in this series of articles.

We exchange energy with others and the world around us through our chakras. Each one feeds vitality into particular body parts and organs. Each chakra also holds different psychological themes.

For many different reasons, a chakra’s ability to function can become compromised. This can cause an imbalance in the energy field, which results in physical and psychological symptoms and disease.

Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra is associated with Creativity. This includes our primal urge to pro-create, as well as being creative in all aspects of life. It is the seat of our emotional passion and sexuality. This vitality is also part of the immune system and gives us the ‘juice’ for life.

It feeds energy to the;

  • Sacrum & Lower Back
  • Pelvis & Hips
  • Kidneys & Bladder
  • Genitals
  • Ovaries & Uterus
  • Prostate Gland & Testicles

Psychology

The quality of physical connection between people, and the giving and receiving of pleasure and physical intimacy is a quality of the Sacral Chakra.

In the surrender to pleasure the entire energy field can be washed and revitalised with creative energy. This includes having fun and laughter, as well as sexual orgasm.

As children we need to receive cuddles, hugs and touch to feel loved. Loving touch is essential to build a healthy self image and feel good about ourselves.

On the other hand, the Sacral Chakra can be affected by shame about sexuality or self image.

This can result from neglect and isolation as a child - or the more extreme experience of excessive punishment and humiliation.

A chronically weak Sacral Chakra can often result from a history of sexual abuse or guilt.

Physical

When the Sacral Chakra is compromised it can affect us in various ways.
